Science fiction, fantasy, and other speculative fiction has been around a very long time. The books listed in this guide are often based on some of the oldest mythology we know of. Some of them descend from oral storytelling and many more connect to written mythologies. Some of these books have become source material for TV and movies. The lists below are far from exhaustive, but they are selected due to their quality and general awesomeness. Because the main audience for this guide is teens, the majority of the books are YA. Much of the best stuff happening in Speculative Fiction today is targeted at teens anyway.
