Mission
The mission of the library is to empower students to achieve at their highest levels and to become lifelong readers and learners. Library Media Specialists work with students individually to help them with research, projects, and technology use. As teachers, Library Media Specialists collaborate with other teachers to plan and teach information literacy lessons to classes to help students with research and other assignments.
Purpose
Our most essential goal reflects our larger mission: to provide students access to library resources for academic achievement and literature appreciation. Library access procedures provide opportunities for students to come to the library for:
Individual research using print materials and databases
Project assistance and instruction
Reinforcement of prior or missed whole class lessons
Books and periodicals for leisure reading
Printing and project supplies
Assistance with Google Apps and other technological tools
Hi, I'm Mrs. Green. I have been serving the WHS community as a Library Media Specialist since 2007! The best thing about my job is that it combines all the best parts of being a teacher and a librarian! I like to read, write & sing, and I also enjoy photography & photo editing. I love traveling and spending time with my family, especially outdoors with my daughters. I am one of the coordinators for Connections and oversee our awesome Student Connections Leaders! I am passionate about promoting equitable, inclusive and socially just educational opportunities for all students, and especially when it comes to access to information and books.
Come to the library with a PURPOSE (i.e. to work on assignments, access library resources, read, support from Mrs. Green).
Although you can talk with friends, that should not be your primary purpose.
The WHS phone/device policy WILL be followed in the library.
Understand that the library is a community space. You are not the only person in the space, so be considerate of others.
Leave the library how you found it. Clean up after yourself.
Books and other materials: may be borrowed for 30 days and can be renewed if no one is waiting for them. Reference books may be checked out overnight. Students are responsible for materials borrowed or used in the library. Students are charged for replacement costs for items lost or damaged beyond repair.
E-Books/audiobooks: may be borrowed for 21 days and can be renewed if no one else is waiting for them. There is a limit of 3 e-books/audiobooks at a time.
Students experiencing issues with Chromebooks should first see Mrs. Green for troubleshooting. If needed, a repair ticket will be created and a loaner will be issued. Students are expected to return loaners promptly once they receive notice (via email) that their devices have been repaired.
