Understanding Very Old Age: Home

Overview

    

The goal of this research activity is to understand the physical and psychosocial aspects of aging in order to consider ways in which society can create an environment conducive to elderly people with a wide range of physical and cognitive abilities.

Drawing on your prior knowledge, as well as our discussion and analysis, you will:

1. Conduct research that focuses on one aspect or viewpoint considered during the "Circle of Viewpoints and Impacts" activity. 

2. Develop 3or 4 inquiry-based questions that could be assigned to your peers to research. These questions should consider the following:            

  • specific implications, issues and experiences of aging people (related to the focus)  
  • specific implications, issues and experiences of the families and caregivers of aging people (related to the focus)                   
  •  potential  adaptations or solutions for providing care and maintaining quality of life.

3. Provide a rationale for each of your questions with specific information, and the reason you feel it is important. 

Consider these Question Stems when developing your inquiry-based questions:
