Overview

 

Conduct research on the infectious disease you have chosen. 

Produce a Google Slide presentation of your findings, with a minimum of 10 slides.

 

Include the following information in your research presentation: 

 

  1. State whether it is a fungus, bacterium, virus, protozoa/parasite or a prion.
  2. Provide a description as to the shape of this organism. I.e. round, spiral, rod, etc.
  3. How is this infection spread? Is it through direct or indirect contact? Be specific and elaborate.
  4. What are the symptoms of this disease?
  5. How is this disease treated?
  6. In which geographical setting is this disease most prevalent? i.e. The tropics, urban areas, industrialized countries, developing countries etc.
  7. Who is most likely to contract this disease? Men, Women, Children, or Elderly? Why?
  8. How can this disease be prevented?
  9. How long will convalescence take if the disease is curable?  How long will disease take to be fatal if it is not curable?
  10. Suppose you were the head of the Department of Health and Human Services and or the Surgeon General of the United States. What would you do to take control of this situation?
  11. Compare how the current COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic is being handled to what you have researched for the disease of your choosing.
  • You must provide credit for ALL images you use in your presentation.
  • You must use a minimum of 4 sources and produce a properly formatted Works Cited page.
