TASK:

Create a Virtual Food Tour using Google Earth for a country of your choice.

CRITERIA:

  • Include at least 8 stops (6 in your chosen country and 2 in the U.S.)
  • Stops should arranged logically (how would someone actually travel?)
  • Each STOP should contain a food fact and at least one image.
  • Your tour should answer the following questions:
  1. What are the popular dishes in general, as well in various regions of the country?
  2. What specific foods, spices, herbs, and/or cooking techniques are used in this country's cuisines
  3. What is grown in various regions of the country, based on climate and terrain?
  4. What part does food play in this country's culture? (daily life, religion, holidays...)
  5. Is the cuisine influenced by the cuisine of other countries? (Ex: the Chinese brought soba noodles to Japan).
  6. How is this cuisine represented in the U.S.? What was brought here by immigrants? Where in the U.S. is it most commonly found?
