RESEARCH TASK 1

 

1.  Conduct research on the following topics:  

  •  The effects of microgravity on food (How does space change  food?) 

  •  The effects of microgravity on the body and the importance of nutrition (How does space affect astronauts’ eating experience and health?)

  •  Food engineering and processing for space flight (What is being done? Who is doing it? How are issues like packaging, nutrition, or shelf-life addressed? )

2.  Complete the graphic organizer with at least eight facts you learned from these sources. 

3.  Use this information to complete a 2-page paper that demonstrates your understanding.

ESSAY STRUCTURE:

Paragraph 1:What you have learned about processing food for spaceflight?

Paragraph 2:What have you learned about how microgravity changes the astronauts body and how these changes affect the nutrition that they need on the Space Station?

Paragraph 3:What have you learned about how to reduce fats, sodium, and sugars and still have some wonderful food?

Paragraph 4:What have you learned about the Johnson Space Center Food Laboratory?
